Well, so far so good!
Hopefully the Cards can continue their success against the struggling Giants, and set up a really exciting series with the Brew crew. It should be an excellent early indicator of where this team stands.

Don't you love it? Brandon Backe (a pitcher, of all people) gets into it with Pujols before the game and then, what do you know, Albert responds with a game in which he has 3 hits (including his first 2 HR on the season), 3 RBI, and he's on base 4 times.
Thou shalt not anger El Hombre!

We just HAD to open our big mouths, didn't we? The 'lowly' Giants looked pretty solid against our best pitcher. Lets hope the Cards respond tonight, because this team isn't going anyhwere if they can't get wins against teams like the Giants.

I think part of the problem was the schedule. They'd played games on 9 staright days and had to fly half-way across the country Wednesday night. They looked sluggish and I think that might be why. They need to bounce back tonight with Lohse pitching. Even if they only split this series with the Giants, they'd come back home with a 9-4 record which is a pretty darn good start.
I think the day off on Monday will help, too, since it winds up being their only day off during the first month of the season.

The off-day being immediately before the Brewers series helps too, doesn't it?
![]() BTW - Can't wait for the weekend, where I won't have to wait until I'm ready to fall asleep to watch the games...

How about that late-inning rally! Got home from work just in time to see the end of it! Now it's one more game to take the series and get a day of rest before taking on the Brewers. Should be a fun week.
