  1. #31

    Lin, beautiful babies!

Alan, so sorry to hear about your loss. It has been just over 2 months since I had to let me Elton go (March 20th) but it still breaks my heart daily. ok here come my water works. It is a very hard decision to make and knowing they are over the Rainbow Bridge just doesn't make it any easier. Hugs to you and Barb and your family.

Those are some great looking cats, Lin. They are probably napping a lot now, so they can expend tons of energy at odd hours jumping from one place they shouldn't be to another...if they're anyting like mine, that is.

Pets make our lives better and we owe them the same. I can't imagine not having a cat around. My oldest cat just turned 16 a couple weeks ago. Her mother was feral and I fed her to give the kittens a better chance. She had two of the three born alive, but didn't know how to care for them. So, I raised this cat from day 1. We caught the feral mother and had her spayed. The woman up the road had something like 20 cats and claimed they were all fixed, yet each year we would have litter upon litter born in our barn. I moved in that house with one cat & left there with 5.

All five kittens have now been adopted!!!!! Yeah!!! Their adopters donated enough money to get five feral cats altered/vaccinated! Yeah!!!!! This makes my day!!

If you haven't read the article in today's (6/6) N&O about the clog of cats and kittens showing up at area shelters please check it out:

This article is EXACTLY why I am a trapping maniac as of late! A friend of mine and I trapped 13 cats last Saturday night in one lady's yard in less than an hour and a half to take them to the Operation Catnip clinic. I am going back tomorrow night to trap three more for vet appointments for speuters/vaccines on Monday. It is never ending for me, but the impact I am making is pretty instant so that rush is cool.

I read that and immediately thought about your efforts. Keep up the good work.

Thank you! I will be trapping feral cats with parts until there are no more to take to the vet!! And once every dog and cat is spayed/neutered and in a forever home and there are no more homeless pets....then I will have to find another hobby!!

I've got so tempted today to get more cats (I know, I wouldn't have enough room for more than 2......), but if somebody has got the heart to get rid of this by leaving them in a plastic bag in a park..........

four out of the five they dumped survived, one was so weakened they had to let him go....How can anybody do that: they are too cute for words, they would have gotten a new (better!!!) owner easily!

PS with the media attention the 4 surviving kittens have been getting in my neck of the woods, I don't doubt these will get good homes

hey Tricia, I saw your letter made it to the N&O's people's forum!

My letter also included a paragraph listing all the low cost options for ferals and pet dogs/cats but for some reason they cut out that very important info!!!

www.snap-nc.org (where I got three ferals done today!)

    www.pop-nc.com

    www.carolinacrossingvet.com in Benson

    www.spcawake.org

    www.operationcatnip.org

Affordable Animal Care in Durham (near Costco) 919-620-7729

www.animalkind.org which has the $20 Fix program where if you are lower income and qualify you can get a voucher to get your dog or cat speutered for $20!!!

My count is now up to #53 out of my 100 I want to do this year!!!! I am over halfway done in less than half a year!
