It's hard to count any team with Kipper in net out of any series. I think he alone will win a couple of games, but is it enough?

The Wings have a ton to prove. Psychologically, getting a good start I think will be extremely important for the Wings after the last few years miserable first round performances.

At the same time there has been a lot of injury concerns lately, and most concerning of all with Zetterberg who hasn't played a game for a long time now. If he can come back and play good, Bertuzzi is healthy, Hasek's leg isn't too bad, and Dats can keep his hot stick, then the Wings look like the best bet. But that's a whole lot of ifs.

As a Wings fan I have the outmost respect for the Flames, a team with Kipper and Iginla is a team worth watching out for. Add to that they play a type of game that historically has not suited the Wings well at all in the playoffs.

So this one will be interesting. Yet somehow the feeling I have is that the Wings are better prepared for this Playoffs and the type of hockey that will be needed than they have been in a long time.

Up to them to show now that they can get it done without Stevie.

Is Zetterberg expected to play?

Yes. Expected to be in it right from the start. They have kept pushing his return more and more, to the point where he didn't get to play any regular season games at all to get prepared. But a lot of that has to do with them being ultra careful with him. He will be playing, the question is how good can he be and will the back hold up.

According to reports he has been absolutely flying in practise the last week or so, so the hopes are that he is ready to go full out.

Calder will cost Detroit the series.

lol Figures.

The real bummer is that Kronwall got seriously injured so now we have to play Lilja again regularly. That's a concern. He had some problems last year with the Oilers.

That's basically the only player I have concerns with.

Calder will be fine.

Yeah, the loss of Kronwall is big. The kid get's overshadowed because of the likes of Lidstrom, Chelios and Schneider but he is a damn good defenseman. Back injuries are tough so I have concerns about Zetts and Big Bert. And then we have to take into consideration that the Flames have played Detroit very tough this year.

I don't think that there is an easy call in the playoffs this year in the west. When the difference between the 1st seed and the 8th seed is 7 wins you can't count anyone out.

No pressure on the Flames at all in this round, which could be a good thing. It'll come down to who has a better series - Hasek or Kipper.
