Default Should there be a salary limits for rookie?

Just like in the NBA, I think that there should be a salary limit on rookies in the NFL, I mean when you make Jake Long the highest paid offensive lineman in the league, and he hasn't even played a single down yet.

And these contract just seems to go up every year. I mean, I am all for someone making money, but there has to be limit right?

maybe a maximum of $10 million signing bonus, and max of $20 mil guaranteed for the top 5 pick. And it goes down from there.

Yes, I think rookie salaries should be capped. Teams need to be saved from themselves. And I'd cap it a lot more than that. Set a rookie salary scale, NBA style. It sets a bad precedent when someone who hasn't played a single down in the NFL all of the sudden becomes among the league's best paid.

It would give teams a better chance at keeping and resigning veterans. Something else that would have to be a part of this is making it a lot easier to make player-for-player trades. My assumption here is that if you cap rookie salaries, it'll make it easier for teams to keep veteran players they'd otherwise cut, making free agency more lacking of quality players.
