Oakland Raiders
Default Can you beleive.....

that most of the people @ NFL network think oakland should take Gholston or McFadden over Chris long. I know i agree with them on the matter of the 2nd pick, but this is just retarded.
1st off, why not to draft mcfadden:
-Doesnt break tackles
-Fumbler
-Though explosive, did it behind huge oline that only had to run block
and for all of you who say "oh the oline isnt that good, hardly any of them will make it to the NFL" it is because they cannot pass block.behind oaklands oline, he would falter
-as the geniuses at NFL network pointed out. our biggest needs are OT and DT. I agree. then as charley casserly put it so elequently "Darren McFadden fills more needs than Chris Long". this is retarded. unless Darren McFadden can play Ot and protect jamarcus's blind side or just so happens to be a run stuffer its not true. He is an average receiving back, average in pass pro, but at the end of the day, he is an average back with good speed. he will look amazing in a place with a good oline (Jets) but in oakland he will falter.

I think darren mcfadden will be a good NFL running back, just not in oakland.

2ndly Why not gholston

-inconsistent at point of attack
-14 sacks came as 4-3 DE where as Longs 14 came as 3-4 DE compare sacks beetween these 2 as you would Jared Allen(4-3) (15.5) and luis Castillo (3-4) (2.5) this eliminates Gholston is a better pass rusher.
-not a force in the run game consistently, and at his best, is = with long
-questionable motor
-workout warrior. the reason he is being touted as going as high as 2 is because he is really fast and really strong. people saw him work out and they got a man-crush on him quicker than a schoolgirl would

Why Chris Long
-oakland fans would NEVER turn against the son of howie
-please fans
-force in running game
-helps pass rush as well as run
-Derek burgess is in the twilight of his career and he and chris clemons (now in philly) led the team in sacks with 8 a piece. we need an every down de to take over for derrick who can make an impact immediately
-tremendous motor
-model citizen
-NFL network says mcfadden is better where as DE is not that big of a priority. it isnt true. ok, lets say an average year for a running back is 1000 yards. and an average year for a DE is 8 sacks. We had 2 8 sack DE in burgess and clemons but clemons left. after those 2 it was gerard warren, a DT and our NT with 4. we signed Kalimba Edwards, but he had 3 sacks last year. As for RBs the stats are as follows:
Justin Fargas-1009 yards in 7 starts
Lamont Jordan-549 yards in 7 starts
Dominic Rhodes- 302 yards in 2 starts
this adds up to 1860 yards!
plus we have michael bush who was a heisman canidate before breaking his leg. he was the reason brian brohm did so well early in his career. he had a good running game. he was on IR for season because of we activated him. if we activated him running back needy teams in our division (Denver and KC) would have signed them.mike is fine and healthy and he will play in 2008

Look we need a LT but since Jake is gone thats not the pick unless we trade down. We need a DT but dorsey and ellis are UT not NT (like warren sapp not ted washington). we need WR but its the same as LT. RB is a none issue unless our entire backfield has simontaneous heart attacks. Chris Long will not only be a popular pick, but one that helps in both run and pass. hopefully you agree.

we need a LT as sims was cut harris should be a RT and we already have aso/hall/routt/
branch will be a dime back this year
wr should have been picked in 4th
and we shouldve traded down to mid teens to pick up more picks
however, as always i will support the raiders cause i bleed silver and black
but that draft was kinda stoopid

man sometimes these so called "experts" are so retarded i seriously think the reason they dont go with what is common, and most of time is right, is because they want to stand out and be different. i have no problem conforming cause id rather be smart then look retarded when the only pick i got right was the first one. in fact mike mayock hade dolphins going with chris long until he signed, even though no one else was even close to engaging in contract talks with the dolphins.

It was believed that Parcells was in talks with Jake Long simply to haggle a price with another top prospect. Most everyone suggested that Jake Long was far from a lock until the contract was signed. In fact, if people did a Mock Draft more than two weeks ago, I'm willing to bet Jake Long was only the 2nd top pick at best.

He's #2 on mine. I can't believe Chris Long didn't go first.

Chris Long was my pick as well, and as a Dolphins fan I would have preferred that. Jake isn't a bad pick by any means, and could very well be better than Chris when all is said and done. Since McFadden was not needed at all, there really wasn't another pick. However, I saw plenty suggesting that Chris Long, Vernon Gholston, and a small minority still behind Glenn Dorsey thought they would be the #1 overall picks only a couple weeks ago.

I had Chris Long at number one. So, seeing Jake going Number One was quite amusing, but, I think Chris Long is going to be the better prospect in my opinion. Parkland, got to hand it to you, that was a solid post to start this thread. .
