When their playoff run ultimately ends, Hornets owner George Shinn plans to begin negotiations to extend Coach Byron Scott's contract.
"We will begin negotiations when the season ends," Shinn said. "We have a tremendous team, and Coach has done a tremendous job. We have to keep everyone intact to keep this going."

Scott could seek a deal from the Hornets that would put him among the six highest-paid coaches in the league.

The New Orleans Hornets and head coach Byron Scott agreed in principle to a new contract extension Wednesday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“I am very happy to sign an extension to stay here in New Orleans with the Hornets,” Scott said. “We, as a team, are a piece of the community of New Orleans. We are really growing into something special and there is no other place I would rather be. I have great assistant coaches, wonderful players, an intelligent general manager and an owner willing to do what it takes to win. I am looking forward to next season.”

Scott is a good coach..highly underrated much better than Doc Rivers..
