On Tuesday three more spots are given out as conferences finish play.
The lone spot and most likely a 15-16 seed for the Horizons Conference is up for grabs as Oral Roberts (22-8) takes on IUPUI (26-6) In the Sun Belt a surprise will be taking home the championship as Midd Tenn. St. knocked off the team expected to win in Souther Alabama. IN doing so it may have taken another at large berth away as S. Alabama is believed to have done enough to win an at large berth. The final sees Midd Tenn St. (16-14) take on Western Kentucky (25-6) Finally another possible bubble bursting game is going on in the Horizon league. Butler has easily done more than enough to clinch an at large berth if it loses to Cleveland St. Butler (28-3) vs Cleveland St. (21-11)

Well Bubble teams collectively sighed in relief tonight as Butler did in fact clinch the automatic spot from the Horizon Conference with a 70-55 win over Cleveland State.
In other conference finals Oral Roberts is returning to the tournament with its third straight Summit League title as it defeated IUPUI 71 64. Also tonight in the Sun Belt tournament final Western Kentucky defeated Mid Tenn St. 67 -57 to clinch a spot in the tournament. Also with a chance to join Western Kentucky from the Sun Belt conference is Southern Alabama who hopes to get a at large bid.

In regards to the Pac 10..even though I am a UCLA fan, that tournament is going to be very tough. Washington has played everyone tough, as well as Oregon. I think UCLA, Stanford, Arizona, Washington State and USC make the field. I can see UCLA losing in the tourney while looking forward to the tournament.

Two more spots are up for grabs on Wednesday as their conferences finish up.
Neither final has a chance to be a bubble burster as both conferences are only sending their tournament winner. The Northeast Conferences finishes up as the two teams play for a spot in the play-in game. Neither can expect more than that. It features Mount St. Mary's (17-14) against Sacred Heart (18-13) The Big Sky tournament also finishes up with regular season champ Portland St. looks for their first ever chance at the dance. Portland St. (23-9) takes on Northern Arizona (20-10)

Portland St. last night clinched their first ever NCAA tournament appearance with a convincing win over Northern Arizona to win the Big Sky conference. They were also the regular season champs.
In the Northeast conference Mount St. mary's makes its first appearance in the NCAA tournament in almost a decade as they knocked off a Sacred Heart team which was a surprise finalist; especially considering they started the season 0-6. Mount St. Mary's was last in the NCAA in 1999.

Today is a big big day in the run for March Madness. Not because there are any spots up for grabs(there aren't) but because all the tournaments left are starting today. This means the PAc-10, Big 10, Big 12, ACC, SEC and Big East are now all in session. Many teams futures are in the air and an untimely loss will knock them from any consideration for an at large bid. Just like what happened to Syracuse yesterday when they lost to Villanova.
Should be fun.

Yesterday was a surprising day as some teams solidified their places in the tournament(West Virginia) or saw their hopes pretty much go up in smoke (Arizona, New Mexico, UAB and Dayton)
Today continues with a lot of basetball as quarters, semi and finals are going on in various conferences. One automatic spot is up for grabs today as the Patriot league finishes up when Colgate (18-13) takes on American (20-11)

For the play in game. The general feeling seems to be Mount St. Mary's and either the SWAC winner or the MEAC winner (if other than Morgan St.)
As for the conference final today, American will be making its first ever NCAA appearance as it defeated Colgate 52-46 today.
