Pac-10 Champion: USC
  • Possibly the easiest Pac-10 conference schedule simply because they don't have to play USC. Cal, Oregon, Arizona State, and Washington are all at home. Two tough out of conference games including Virginia on the road, and a very tough Ohio State team at home should be interest, but still plays in USC's favor.
  • Cal struggled the entire second half of 2007, and they lose their impact player on offense and special teams. USC, Oregon State, and even Maryland on the road could end in losses.
  • Oregon facing USC, Arizona State, Cal, Purdue, and Oregon State on the road will make for a tough season. A fairly easy home schedule with the exception of Boise State and Washington could help out.
  • Arizona State plays too long of a tough streak to come out ahead in my opinion. In Week 4, they face Georgia at home followed by Cal and USC on the road, Oregon at home, and then Oregon State and Washington on the road. No thanks.
  • Oregon State plays a tough schedule early on that could hurt them too much to come back. Penn State on the road, followed by Hawaii and USC make it tough to start with a winning record. Perhaps a falling Warriors team can keep that from happening.
  • UCLA facing Fresno State, BYU, and Tennessee could lead to an 0-3 start in a team I don't have confidence in.
  • Washington is another one that plays a very tough schedule early on. Oregon on the road followed by BYU and Oklahoma at home could lead to an 0-3 start to a team that should be getting better.
  • Arizona, Washington State, and Stanford will fight it out for no higher than 6th in my opinion.
Most Interesting Out-of-Conference Matchup: Arizona State vs. Georgia
  • I fully would predict Georgia to win this right now, but I won't suggest Arizona State can't win. Regardless, the final score will help develop which conference is better early in the 2008 season.
  • As mentioned in the Big-10 thread, Ohio State vs. USC should be a great game.

The 2 best games in the early season are Ohio State @ USC and the Georgia/ASU game. I think that the winner of the SC/OSU game has a good shot at the national title.
However, SC has to get by Virginia back there. That will be a good test for the Trojans -- but I think that they can pass it. I just hope that they come out of it healthy for OSU.

If USC doesn't win the Pac-10 this year, something is wrong. 2nd place will be between (most likley) Oregon and ASU.

ASU is still overrated by the entire nation, but that doesn't mean they aren't good.

Cal has so many internal issues I don't even know where to begin. Many on the team don't even like eachother right now, but then again, that was Oregon's problem the last few years, and Belotti figured out a way to solve that problem, and then some. Tedford and Belotti are good friends (albeit rivals), I'm sure they have talked.

Oregon State will always be tough, but with how many they lost from their defense, they may not be able to stop anyone from scoring.

Arizona will always be the media darlings, but they will struggle...again.

UCLA is young...VERY young...and they STILL don't have a quarterback.

Stanford is improving, but they are nowhere near the top yet.

UW is, well...they just aren't very good, and I give it 4 games before Jake Locker is taken off the field on either a stretcher or a body bag. It won't take long for opposing defenses to figure out that he is their offense, and all of it. No receivers, no running backs, and an offensive line that would have trouble starting at Montana State.

Washington State...well, they are in worse shape than UW...and with 12 less scholarships!!

I'd love to say my Ducks can challenge USC, but not this year. Our schedule, especially in the Pac-10 is brutal. On the road at USC, at ASU, at Cal, at Oregon State...no way you win all of those...I'll be happy to win 2 of those!
