In my opinion there are a couple teams which can take this, and have a shot at going undefeated IMO. One is Mizzou who are bringing back a lot of players from this years very good team including Chase Daniel. They avoid Oklahoma in the regular season and look to have only a couple stumbling blocks in Illinois early and Texas in the middle of the season.

The other team is Texas Tech. This was a solid 9-4 team this year who had one of the most explosive offensives in the country. To top it off, they have lost 0 starters from their offense and only 3 from their defense. Both QB Harrell and WR Crabtree I think are going to get long looks at the Heisman after this year. As for their schedule, they avoid both Mizzou and Oklahoma and host Texas. This is going to be a dangerous team, top ten I think come year end at least.

Big 12 North Winner: Missouri
  • Nebraska and Colorado I think could be better, but won't be ready to make a run. Iowa State is still Iowa State, so that immediately nixes three teams.
  • Kansas State can play solid football, but with decent out of conference games against Louisville and Fresno State. No Texas on their schedule, but Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M will make up for that.
  • Kansas is probably the second best team, but I could see them falling to Kansas State and either Nebraska or Colorado. Plenty of returning starters, but I'm still not sold on them at all. Playing at Oklahoma and South Florida, a neutral site against Missouri, and still matchups against Texas and Texas Tech will not lead to another 12-1 season.
Big 12 South Winner: Oklahoma
  • A rematch of last year because I think Oklahoma is slightly better than Texas. Texas is right there though. They should begin 5-0 before they play Oklahoma in Dallas which could ultimately decide the division right there. They do still have Missouri, Kansas, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M after that.
  • Texas A&M I expect to see another down year under a new coaching staff.
  • Oklahoma State has a good easy out of conference schedule, but I don't see them stacking up with the two powerhouses this year.
  • Baylor...yeah.
  • Texas Tech has to play tough to stay around the polls, but while the conference might be out of hand, they could be a top 20 team. If they can win in Kansas, they could certainly finish with 10 wins in 2008.
Most Interesting Out-of-Conference Matchup: Missouri vs. Illinois
  • The game is being played in St. Louis, but this will either set the tone to a great season, or could shake things up just enough that they can't repeat. If the Tigers can win over Illinois in their opener, the game in Texas could decide whether the Tigers are 12-0 heading to the Big 12 Championship this year.
  • Honorable Mention to Kansas playing in South Florida in September.
