Default 2008 NBA Draft Profiles

The 2008 draft is quickly apporaching, and many people arn't too familair with the young prospects comming into the league. Well this thread will change that. Each week I'll highlight players that are likely to be selected in the first round, and if I have some time I'll dip into the second round.

If anyone has any information about certain players, post what you know and help the rest of us get to know the players.

Alright, we'll get this started off with the consensus number one pick in the draft, Micheal Beasley. Beasley is a freshman at Kansas State, and is expected to decleare for the draft after the NCAA season. The kid is 6'9 and weights 235, he's also left handed, and is likely to be SF that could very well be playing PF in the NBA. He's been compared to Carmelo Anthony, Jamision, Marion and well as Zach Randloph and Derrick Coleman.

He's won the MVP of the McDonalds AA game, but there are also reports that he isn't in fact 6'9 but rather closer to 6'7; but that still shouldn't dsicredit his 9'6 reach. In the NBA he could do very well in an uptempo type of system if the team plans on using him as a 4. For his size he does average a ton of rebounds in college, and should get about 6-8 in the NBA. Comming into college there were a few knocks on him, one was his outside shooting. Since his first day on the court he's made a vast improvement and could be a solid outside shooter in the NBA.

Although his strenghts outweight his weakness, he does come with some major issues. The first one being is lack of interest. From his HS days, he's always seem bored with his competition. Beasley has always been one of the, if not the, best player on the court and after he realizes this he seems to just coast through the game. The second knock on him is his maturity.

Strengths:
  1. Offensive game is one of the best around
  2. Offensive post game could enable him to play the 4
  3. Is able to find teammates
  4. Loves to take it to the rim and dunk
  5. Rebounding
  6. Handles
  7. Explosive first step
  8. Left-hand
  9. "Nastiness" to his game
  10. Aggresive player
Weakness:
  1. Defense
  2. Effort
  3. Maturity
  4. SF or PF?
  5. Attitude
  6. Offcourt Issues
  7. Easily bored

I was going to list the websites as well, but most people usually don't visit them.

Holy Freshmen, Batman! The first thing that jumps out is that nine of the top 11 players are freshmen, including the first three players on the list. This is indeed a highly regarded freshman class, led by consensus top pick Michael Beasley. By contrast, it's a somewhat lightly regarded class of returnees.

Agreed Hansborugh is a great College player ala Christian Laettner. Perfect example of who Hansbourgh will be like....

Jerrod Bayliss- Kid can flat out play, Great Ball handling skillz, can go to the basket with either hand and is a solid shooter for a freshman, Hopefully he will stay at Arizona and let Lute Olsen come back and mold him like the Past PG's Lute has had, Damon Stoudamire, Jason Terry, Mike Bibby even Miles Simon
