Rocket also was close friends with John Daly's ex-wife. She was already divorced from the golfer. Clemens was married with children at the time.

Roger Clemens linked to John Daly's ex
Quote:

Several sources told the Daily News Wednesday that Clemens had a relationship with Paulette Dean Daly, a former wife of champion golfer John Daly.

The sources said Clemens, a married father of four, arranged trips to Anaheim Stadium for Daly - the latest woman to emerge as an alleged Rocket flame - to watch him pitch forthe Yankees against the Angels. Sources also said he spent time with her in Palm Springs, Calif.

The pair met at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, a Palm Springs golf tournament that Paulette Dean Daly has been involved with for many years - including stints as a "Classic Girl," one of the beautiful women who help in ceremonial duties at the event, sources said.

"Yeah, I've known Roger quite a while and we are friends," Daly said yesterday.

She declined to elaborate on the nature of her relationship with the pitcher, but did not deny allegations from several sources that it was romantic and included financial support.

Asked if she had been romantically involved with Clemens, Daly replied: "You know what, I'm really uncomfortable talking about this. I'm just going to have to say, 'No comment.'

"I know Roger. I consider him a good friend. That's all I'm comfortable saying."

Talk of Clemens' infidelity has been around for years. I was surprised it suddenly became "news", though I guess it is news that he was shagging a fifteen-year-old.

Though, to be fair, I'm not sure what Mindy McCready's word is worth. She does have a very checkered past.

I remember on one of the old Jays boards one of our posters worked at SkyDome in the luxury boxes and was talking about waiting on former Jays players and coaches during alumni weekend. The players were talking about Clemens' hanky-panky with a stripper on the same day that he received a "Father of the Year" award.

It doesn't take much to convince me that Clemens is a slimeball. I'm not sure that I feel any particular need to have it proven yet again, but I guess it is nice to see him get what he's got coming to him.

being faithful to your wife and being a good father are 2 completely different things

I'm not going to debate this, so take it or leave it, but these two are absolutely related. Being an unfaithful husband means being an unfaithful father, because if you live a lie with your wife, what is to keep your children from expecting you to live a lie with them also? Unless you think you can keep it a secret. Which is easier said than done. And a lie is a lie no matter what the circumstances.

that doesn't make any sense at all.you're trying to say that because he cheated on his wife he cheated on his kids?that's retarded!i guess the next thing you're going to say is that a single father, who has slept with multiple women, should never win father of the year

He wasn't talking about a single father. He was talking about a married father.

And he's right.

If you're married and have children and you have an extramarital affair you are a bad father.

ESPN - Clemens issues statement apologizing for 'mistakes' - MLB
Quote:
"I know that many people want to know what I have to say about the recent articles in the media," Clemens said in the statement. "Even though these articles contain many false accusations and mistakes, I need to say that I have made mistakes in my personal life for which I am sorry. I have apologized to my family and apologize to my fans. Like everyone, I have flaws. I have sometimes made choices which have not been right."
Quote:
"Now, I have been accused of having an improper relationship with a fifteen-year-old girl. Nothing could be further from the truth. This relationship has been twisted and distorted far beyond reality. It is just one of many, many accusations that are utterly false."

Clemens refused to reveal the reason for public declaration but concluded: "I realize that many people want me to simply confess and apologize for the conduct that I have been accused of, but I cannot confess to, nor apologize for, things I did not do. I have apologized to my family for my mistakes. And having offered this apology to the public, I would ask that you let me and my family deal with these matters in private."
I wonder what mistakes he's talking about, since he still hasn't admitted anything

I love it. Clemens's strategy has clearly been to paint himself as a bastion of moral superiority (a devoted husband and father who would never do these terrible things they said he did) and McNamee as a morally deprived slimeball who will do or say anything. The obvious implication being that we should believe everything Clemens says and not believe anything McNamee says.

Now, it appears that strategy is backfiring as this "devoted husband" has apparently been a serial cheater who appears to be the moral equal (if that) of the purported slimeball McNamee.

Clemens keeps trying to play the bully, but it appears that the bully himself is starting to take of few punches.
