Brewers give Ryan Braun an extension

The Milwaukee Brewers and left fielder Ryan Braun have agreed to a seven-year contract extension, according to a report on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel web site Thursday.

Braun’s deal is expected to surpass the largest contract in club history, established when free-agent pitcher Jeff Suppan signed a four-year, $42 million contract prior to the 2007 season.

The Brewers have scheduled an 11 a.m. EDT press conference at Miller Park, at which time the deal is expected to be officially announced.
