Yeah, this sucks... big time.

Quote:
The six-foot-three, 220-pound centre was the fourth pick, 143rd overall, by the Calgary Flames in the 2007 NHL entry draft. He showed solid development last season, when he scored 22 goals and amassed 54 points in 68 OHL games.
My condolences to the family and friends.

R.I.P.

Sorry for the poor quality newspaper scans, but here's a photo story of the Windsor area this week:

2004 picture. That's Mickey Renaud with his two family inspirations. His father, Mark, (left) and his uncle Chris (right). Both Mark and Chris are former NHL players.

Mickey in Windsor's third jersey.

GM and former NHL-er Warren Rychel leaves Windsor Arena after a team meeting following the public announcement.

Friend and fan Joey Drouillard is overcome by his emotions.

This would have been the ticket for the next game, featuring Captain Mickey Renaud, and obviously printed before the news hit the press.

Warren Rychel, coach Bob Boughner, and Calgary Flames scout and fomer Spits coach Tom Webster at a news conference.

A fan watches video of Renaud at "the barn" while 1,200 others are at his funeral.

Teammates have the terrible task of paulbearers. That's Mickey's brother Remy in black leading the procession.

Notice the dark "C 18" patch on their shoulders.

Both the Windsor Police and the rest of the team line up as his casket leaves the church.

Also in attendance were the Commissioner of the OHL; Bob Probert; London Knights coach Dale Hunter; and many former Windsor Spitfire players.

What could have been...

Rest in peace, Mickey. :cry
