Mostly more blah, blah, blah, but it's always nice to read about your team's prospects:

Here's the hit:
YouTube - Brandon Sutter Hits Alexei Cherepanov Cherepanov tripped Sutter in the Russian zone, so I'm guessing that's why he went at him so hard at the other end of the ice. Is that a "slew-foot" trip? I'm still not clear on the term...the first I'd heard of it was when senior citizen Mario Lemieux tried to pick a fight with Staal because he thought he was a victim of one. Sutter took a charging penalty for the hit, but I'm going to take a guess that the hit got inside Cherepanov's head and was well worth it. The more I see and hear of Sutter, the more I think the Canes made the right choice with that pick. |

That was one charging penalty that probably didn't feature a ranting complaint by the coach. Kid got his money's worth.
I know there was a fair amount of carping from Canes fans about the selection of Sutter ... he was a reach, he was a "safe" pick, what have you .... but you really get a nice package of passionate play and terrific hockey sense with this kid. You realy can't go wrong with that combination.

He was skating with the puck.......had his head down....and got clocked....and that is a charge against Sutter? I see that his legs came off the ice but that was after the hit. Looked clean to me.
I agree with the post above....the more I see and hear about Sutter the more I like him. Moreover, I think he could be in the lineup sooner rather than later. Not necessarily this year, but maybe next year. |

Technically, I've always understood Charging to be taking more than a certain number of strides (3?) before hitting an opponent.
Anecdotally, I've understood Charging to be anytime a player is skating really fast when they hit the opponent. |
