Todd Whites fantasy stock should be higher

As a Wild fan, I was somewhat sad to see Todd White go. The Wild do need to get bigger in the middle and White is and always has been a small guy.

The Wild used him a lot in a checking role and he didn't get a whole lot of opportunities to use his offensive game.

Believe me when I say though, it is there. And on a team like the Thrashers he could put up some big numbers on a line with either Kovalchuk or Hossa.

I know Fantasy hockey is a ways away--but keep Todd White in mind during the draft.

If he sinks into the late rounds he could be a major steal.

I could see him putting up 60 or so points. I like White but he should not be a number 1 centre IMO. But you're right he could be a great late round pick up.

I'm wondering if they take a look at giving Allison a tryout to check him out. He doesn't have the speed to play with those two 5 on 5 but I think he'd be great with them on the PP.

Who do you see as the breakout rookie. I'm going to go with Backstrom in Washington, although Toews could be up there as well. E.Johnson for D.

For D I will also take Erik Johnson.

For forward I will go with Nik Backstrom.

I know its kind of boring that I picked the same guys as you, but I think you definently picked the two with most upside.

As for Allison, I have to wonder if anyone is going to give him a shot this season. Nobody bothered to take a chance on him last year and its already very late in the FA season this year.

With Backstrom it could go one of two ways and it all depends on which Alexander he gets put with. If Ovechkin he'll light it up 75-85 points, if it's with Semin I think he'll still put up decent points somewhere in the 60's.

Toews though should be the #1 centre between havlat and maybe Samsonov. If Havlat can stay healthy and play like he did at the start of last season Toews might benefit.

With regards to Allison I don't think anyone should be looking at him as a legit top centre 5 on 5. But I think he could be extremely useful as a PP specialist of sorts.

How about Derek Roy, he's projected to take over the #1 centre position between vanek and Afinogenov. He could put up huge points.

I'm just not so sure how badly teams want a guy who can only be beneficial on the PP. Hes too slow 5 on 5 and he really has a tendency to loose focus of where everyone is on the rush. Maybe its just me -- I see him going unsigned again this season.

Derek Roy is another good sleeper. He will top his numbers from last year, I have no doubts about that.

Toews production is going to depend heavily on two things;

1) Havlat staying healthy as you pointed out

2) Samsonov having a comeback year

Samsonov was brutal in Montreal last season, he will need to bounce back in a big way for the Blackhawks.
