lightbulb The Trades Thread

This is for all the trades/moves in your random leagues that you want to discuss.

Someone offered me Victor Martinez and Khalil Greene for Russel Martin and Joey Votto. He said he needed a 1B...

Martinez has dual eligibility and I have Pudge on the bench.

Is it a keeper league? How are you for steals and HRs? Who's your current SS?

More info is needed, but just looking at it, it's pretty even. I personally prefer Martin over V-Mart, just because of the plus of SBs from the catcher, but I'm probably in the minority on that. Greene will get you better power #s than Votto most likely, but he'll also be a drain on your BA. Tough call, but knowing the variables would make it easier.

Just a regular free roto league...

Greene is projected for about 30HR, but I think that my main point is that this guy is talking about how he needed a 1B, but he's got Martinez sitting there with 1B eligibility and he wants Votto to fill that void... doesn't make sense...

If he has Martinez fill the 1b void, who does he play at catcher? If he even has another C, I'm sure Votto is projected to put up better numbers than him, that's probably why he's looking for 1b help. V-Mart is a top 2 fantasy C, possibly the best, while he might be in the top 10 1b.

He's lying.

Martin is the rarest of commodities, a five-category catcher, which Martinez isn't. Greene, however, is a SS who offers nothing but HRs. He'll hurt you in every other category. Meanwhile, Votto is a potential five-category contributor, especially if Baker plays him.

Don't bother. Keep Martin/Votto.

I wanted opinion on this trade that I offered.

I would be giving up:

Albert Pujols
Jason Bay
Roy Halladay

FOR

Miguel Cabrera
Matt Holliday
Ben Sheets

Who wins this trade? I'd like some responses before I propose it. I am pretty high on Albert, but would give him up to get Cabrera.

If you have faith in Ben Sheets remaining healthy (which is something I would not have right now since he is experiencing soreness in the same spot he has been injured before), then I say propose it. You do downgrade from Albert Pujols to Miguel Cabrera, but you upgrade from Jason Bay to Matt Holliday and Roy Halladay to Ben Sheets.

Personally, I might pass on it just because of the health issues with Sheets. Maybe go after a different starting pitcher other than Sheets.

I don't see the point of that trade. An upgrade from Bay to Holliday (the difference of which I suspect is not as great as most believe) is probably not worth the significant Ben Sheets injury risk. Let the other guy worry about Sheets's health.

What does the remainder of your roster look like?

Do you need a 3B? Do you have a decent 1B if you trade Pujols?

Cabrera may soon be eligible for both 1B & 3B, which is nice. I would make the trade if I had a decent 1B to take the place of Albert.
