Default HOS needs some little advice or suggestion

I just drafted this morning a league team that just got me wondering somewhat. I drafted 6 out of 12 team league I could use some advice or suggestions:

C: Victor Martinez and J.R. Towles
1B: Ryan Howard
2B: Chone Figgins
3B: Chipper Jones
SS: Jhonny Peralta
OF: Nick Markakis, Brad Hawpe, Johnny Damon, and Pat Burrell
UTIL: Hideki Matsui

SP: Fausto Carmona, John Maine, and Chad Billingsley
RP: JJ Putz, Trevor Hoffman, Rafeal Betancourt, and Zack Greinke

Who should I start? I know Howard is definite at first and Chipper for 3rd.

What are the starting positions (mainly for the pitchers and outfielders)? What stats do you use?

I mainly use the stats as batting average, runs batted in, and steals.

Pitching wise: ERA and WHIP are my main big ones. WINS also.

One of each in the infield, 3 Outfielders, 2 Starting Pitchers, 3 Relievers and Closers, I guess we do have a DH.

For catcher, I think the obvious starter is Victor Martinez. I assume the outfield is not restricted to LF/CF/RF (I prefer that though) and is just three OF's, so I would go with Nick Markakis, Brad Hawpe, and Johnny Damon. I would keep Hideki Matsui in the UTIL spot, but keep an eye on his playing time, I am not sure if it will be diminished at all.

For the two starting pitchers, just go with whoever is starting unless this is a weekly changes league as opposed to a daily changes league, then you have to watch the match-ups.

For the three reliever/closer spots, I would go with J.J. Putz, Trevor Hoffman, and Rafael Betancourt.

Matsui is slated to be the team's DH to begin the season. Damon starting in left.

If Matsui doesn't start to hit, expect him to see less playing time.

I figured I made a mistake drafting Matsui despite his good numbers last season. UGH.

It is not a mistake if Hideki Matsui produces, but if he starts off poorly his playing time could be diminished. If that is the case, then Pat Burrell takes his spot at UTIL.

Just hope for Matsui to start off well, then you could dangle him as trade bait if you have your doubts.
