My idea is a Lupul for Zherdev trade. Both players have been struggling for their respective teams, both are very talented, both make about the same amount of money, and might be a great trade for both teams. Thoughts.

They seriously need to consider cleaning house. See what they can get for Sykora as the deadline nears, maybe Jason Smith too. Maybe someone will bite on nedved (though I doubt it). If they dont plan on giving Smyth what he wants they might as well ship him off as well while they can get something for him. Different salary structure but its the same old story ... play for the future. I think you got to try to keep the younger forwards (Hemmer, Torres, Stoll, Lupul & Pisani - though no one is going to want to take his contract on anyway .... same with Horc) & develop them with the young Dmen, maybe that way in a few years this team will be serious about being a contender.

Your trade could help both teams but I think that the Blue Jackets would want a bigger return for Zherdev.

Well if the Oilers give Smytty the C, I wouldnt be suprised at all to see Gator traded, im not a fan of dealing him, but getting a guy like Stuart would be huge.

According to a report in the Toronto Star, the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers are taking a close look at Toronto winger Darcy Tucker ahead of the February 27th trade deadline. According to Star sources, both Alberta clubs are in "tire-kicking" mode when it comes to Tucker, who will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.

With the deadline coming and rumours all over the place, lets toss all of the rumours and ideas into this thread.

I just heard an interesting rumour out of Detroit from a friend in Windsor - he tells me on the radio this afternoon he heard that Detroit has offered Mathieu Schneider and a conditional draft pick for Jason Smith and Brad Winchester - apparently the ball is in the Oilers Court! Schneider is returning from a knee injury and is slated to be in the lineup tomorrow for the wings when they face the Islanders - he has 32 points in 39 games this season and is a + 15 - he's a UFA and the wings money is slated to keeping Datsyuk, Holmstrom, Maltby??? Schneider made 3.3 this season and wants a raise - Smith makes 1.97 over this season and next and Winchester makes 500 K and is a RFA next year.
