With tonights loss, I'm guessing the Sabres are toast.
They're down to a 6.7% chance of making it, according to sportsclubstats.com.

Ric Flair retires Sun. I guess that means he can make it to more Canes games in person.

Rutherford ranked best at the trade deadline

In light of Jonathan Roy's fight, heathensonline.com has put together the list of 12 greatest goalie fights ever. Patrick Roy is on the list twice, at #4 vs. Mike Vernon and #1 vs. Chris Osgood. Our own Justin Peters comes in at #6 for a fight he had when he was with the Plymouth Whalers. Surprisingly, Emery vs. Biron from last year is down at #8. There is a YouTube link for each fight.

Caps get at least a point, tying Tampa with 4:48 left in the 3rd.

Edit: Caps get the win on a goal by Fleischmann with 2:33 left in OT

You can't expect a bad team to beat a hot team. The Canes are going to have to win their way in to the playoffs, not back in. Assuming the Canes and Caps both win this weekend the Canes can clinch at Wash on Tues.

canes really need to keep on winning! argghh..

The only good thing with the standings is the canes have the tiebreaker on wins against boston, philadelphia, and washington..

tie breaker procedures.. #1 goes out the window after all 82 games are played..

If two or more clubs are tied in points during the regular season, the standing of the clubs is determined in the following order:
1. The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
2. The greater number of games won.
3. The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing.
4. The greater differential between goals for and against for the entire regular season.
