Yes the teams have been around longer, the Grey Cup too.
But as an official entity the CFL is now 50-

Neat history of the CFL origins. Although I've often wondered why another team in Montreal or Toronto didn't step up among the big 4 back in the 1950s.

hmmm...interesting, I, for some reason, always thought the CFL was "around" for much longer than 50 years.

As did I. I knew the Grey Cup predated the CFL as it existed now but I didn't know it was this new. It sounds like its history is alot like the NHL pre-world war II.
