Khalil Greene to Cubs? Pads pass on Coco

Krasovic says the Cubs "have kept tabs" on shortstop Khalil Greene, while the Padres are still eyeing Felix Pie. The Cubs' win-now approach could lead to that move, as Reed Johnson is doing fine in center field so far. Greene is signed through the '09 season. Trading Greene would leave a gaping hole at the position for the Padres though. Another point is that the Cubs have gotten fine production at shortstop so far this year.

ok so we'd probly be looking at something like pie and cedeno which makes it an even better deal for the padres

That might be stretching a bit. Felix Pie for Khalil Greene seems like a bad move for the Cubs, so I am not sure why they would add someone else to the deal unless the Padres did as well.

Plus, if the Cubs are getting good production at shortstop this year, I am not sure they really need Greene, unless they want a good bat off the bench.

i agree.i think trading for greene would be a stupid move.theriot's been good for them so far and it's not they need any extra bats in their lineup.through a month this year they have the most runs scored and that's w/o soriano
